Brief History of Forest Hills Middle School
Forest Hills Middle School was completed at the end of the year in1985. The school opened in January of 1986 under the leadership of Dr. Long, the principal. The school was built within the city limits of Wilson in a well established community.
The school received students in January of 1986 from Charles L. Coon Junior High. Charles L. Coon had previously housed the entire 8th grade for Wilson County. The start of the 1986-1987 school year brought with it students from 6th and 7th grades to merge with the 8th grade added the year before. This remains the current format for the school. Forest Hills was one of two middle schools opened in the county during that time frame.
